Special Events

Hartford PAL has hosted and participated in many different functions such as Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway, Christmas Giveaway and Party, Miracle Family Christmas, Youth Challenge, Bikes 4 Kids, Hartford’s Dance Off, PAL Talent Shows, Global Community Service Days and many police fundraisers. Our officers also attend numerous Community events for recruiting purposes and also create community service opportunities for our youth to participate in.

Field Trips

Hartford PAL aims to provide fun and exciting experiences by exposing youth to opportunities they would otherwise never have while creating positive memories.  We also use field trips as rewards and incentives for youth that have excelled in specific life skill areas.  Field trips have included roller skating, bowling, movies, Riverfront activities, Lake Compounce, Rockcats and Yankee games, Lazer Quest, Bounce U, Flight , Ski Sundown, Hartford Hawks and UCONN basketball, Disney on Ice, CT Whale, Ringling Brothers Circus, Beardsley Zoo, Ice Skating, Pilot Pen, Nutcracker, Hartford Stage and the Wadsworth Athenaeum.

Camp Programs

Life Skills Day, Week, & Summer Camps

Life Skills camps PAL camps are held on single days, vacations and during the summer of every year in accordance with Hartford School calendars.  All Life Skills camps incorporate a structures schedule that many include a variety of educational and art sub programs, field trips and recreational sports.

Camp Cedar Over-Night Camp

PAL also retreats for a week every August of every year at Camp Cedar in Maine. At Cedar our youth receive a fully structured program of activities ranging from individual and team sports such as basketball, baseball, soccer, hockey, lacrosse, tennis, volleyball, swimming, biking, sailing, water-skiing and golf to outdoor education and adventure programming including hiking, nature, trips, zip line and ropes course as well as a full slate of creative arts programming including ceramics, painting, woodworking and rocketry. All meals, snacks and activities are donated by Camp Cedar for almost 20 years.  For more information on Camp Cedar, click here.
